Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce that experienced defender Michael Hector has signed a new contract with the club.
The Jamaican international joined the Addicks on deadline day in January 2023 and quickly established himself at the heart of Dean Holden’s defence, featuring 17 times in the league.
Hector brings a wealth of experience to Holden’s squad having made over 400 career appearances, 181 of which have come in the top-two tiers of English football.
After penning his new one-year deal, the 30-year-old said: “I enjoyed my time here last season working with the manager and the staff. It’s a family club and getting another chance to play here was an easy decision to make.”
Manager Holden added: "Re-signing Michael was an important priority for us this summer. Everyone saw the impact he had on the pitch after he arrived at the club. He also showed real leadership, supporting the development of our talented young defenders.
"He's a classy defender and a great character to have around, so I’m looking forward to working with him again.”
CEO Peter Storrie said: “Dean has been clear from a very early stage that we should do what we can to re-sign Michael. He was vital for us last season and became popular with the club's supporters, so we're really pleased he has signed a new contract with the club."
