Alex Mitchell is relishing Saturday's test against table toppers Birmingham City at The Valley.
The Addicks host a Blues side that have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the Sky Bet League One season, winning seven of their opening eight fixtures.
“I love the big games," said the defender. "That's one of the reasons I went on loan to Scotland, so I could play at Ibrox and against Celtic.
"At the end of the day, it's 11-v-11 on that pitch. There's been a lot of talk about Birmingham and they are a good side, but that is it. We have got great support here and incredible facilities. There is a lot of talk at the moment and I’d love to be a part of the team that quietens that down a little bit. They have had a great start, so fair play to them."
The 22-year-old insisted that, despite the recent dip in form, heads have not dropped in the camp.
“I’ve had it at previous clubs where you're not doing well and lads will maybe start to get a bit toxic and throw their toys out the pram, but here it's been really good. I think that's down to the management team and everyone around the building helping to keep everyone going in one direction.
"It's been three bad results, but that's it. I know there have been talks about the performances, but when they weren’t great we were still winning games and that's the important thing. When we do click, I think it will all come together very nicely.
“Even the best teams have a dip in form," he added. "Look at League One last year - it was a three-legged race and Bolton didn’t get it due to their form at the end. It does happen, even to the best teams in the league, so we just need to keep going and stay positive.
"It’s so early in the season, obviously we have come off the back of three bad results and everyone is aware of that. No one is more gutted than the players in my opinion. We live our whole lives around this football club, so when we lose and fail to do our job, we are aware of that.
“We’re four points off second still, and that shows how good the start was. Obviously, we have had a little dip, but the hard work and endeavour at the training ground is still there. We just need to translate that on matchday.”
