Nathan Jones spoke to CharltonTV as the Addicks shared the spoils against Mansfield Town at The Valley on Saturday afternoon.

Neither side were able to break the deadlock despite the Addicks hitting the woodwork and having a large penalty appeal denied.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t win the game," said Jones. "I'm also disappointed that we didn’t show a little more quality in the final third. We’ve been really brave today, we had 55% possession and three clear-cut chances. There are a lot of positives to take from today. In the first-half we tried to play and create but we didn’t really get a foothold in the game.

“Second-half we were a much better side, I thought we were going to go on and win it. The positive is that we kept another clean sheet and I’m glad that we didn’t go on and lose that by a mistake or a lapse in concentration. It shows the levels of concentration we had and also there was a team working hard there.”

The Addicks are still without Kayne Ramsay and Tennai Watson, seeing Tyreece Campbell feature as a wing-back in a 3-5-2 system. Jones admitted that there is a lack of options down the flank defensively and patience is needed for things to come good.

He said: “We need a bit of patience, we are building a real foundation here that is difficult to beat. It is a young team that is still learning. We are one or two short, especially down the right-hand side because we have not got that at the minute due to injuries.

“There is a group of players here trying hard and grafting, every single day, sacrificing, it is a great group. Occasionally we let the fans down, I’m not sure that we did today, we just didn’t demonstrate enough quality. We are a work in progress, I sense their frustration as I too am frustrated. But my side gave me everything today, they worked hard, put their bodies on the line and kept going until the very end.

“At the end of the day, we have had to share the spoils.”
