NEW COACHING ACADEMY FOR SEPTEMBER 2017

Charlton Athletic Community Trust’s (CACT) Coaching Academy is looking for young enthusiastic individuals keen to start a career in coaching.

The Coaching Academy is a two year, full-time education and coaching development programme open to boys and girls aged between 16-18 years and is a must for any aspiring coach.

Open days for 2017 will take place at CACT's head office: Charlton Athletic Community Trust, CAFC Training Ground, Sparrows Lane, New Eltham SE9 2JR on the following dates:

 

Saturday 4th March  2-4pm
Friday 5th May   5-7pm
Saturday 22nd July, 2pm -4pm
Saturday 19th August, 2pm -4pm

 

Why join CACT’s Coaching Academy?

CACT has a proven track record in nurturing and producing talented players through our outstanding community to academy set-up, having produced players such as Scott Wagstaff, Robbie Elliot, Karlan Ahearne-Grant and Semi Ajayi in recent years. Today there are over 22 players in the Premier and Football League who are products of the Charlton Athletic Community Trust programme 

The nurturing of this talent would not have been possible without the highly enthusiastic and educated team of coaches at CACT. This programme will look to ingrain these coaching philosophies within selected students and help produce the stars of the future. The Coaching Academy aims to develop and enhance each individual coach’s technical and tactical knowledge through an extensive course.

All Coaching Academy students will receive daily training and professional development from highly qualified CACT coaches and FA tutors. Each coach will represent CACT and deliver football and multi sports programmes across South East London and Kent.

Over the two-year duration of the course, players will study a variety of nationally recognised qualifications across sport, coaching and fitness including the BTEC Diploma in Sport, delivered at Level 2 and 3 standards (A-Level equivalent), FA coaching qualifications together with core skills in Maths and English.

The Coaching Academy offers a unique opportunity for students to train and study in an environment that will develop their academic and sporting performance. The Coaching Academy programme and academic studies will be based at CACT, where coaches will benefit from an excellent range of training facilities and a dedicated classroom for academic studies.

 

Who will deliver the education?

CACT has developed a partnership with SCL, a further education and work based training provider, who will be responsible for the management and delivery of the educational element of the Coaching Academy programme. SCL currently work with sixth form schools, further education colleges and football academies in the south of England and have over 10-years experience successfully delivering vocational and academic sports based qualifications. The SCL team consist of highly qualified and experienced teachers, assessors, verifiers and FA coach educators.

 

What are the costs? 

Both the football and educational element of the Coaching Academy are fully funded and therefore there is no cost to join the programme however, there will be subsidised costs for purchasing training kit at the start of the season. Further details will be provided upon the student’s acceptance into the Coaching Academy.
