As has been in the case in previous seasons, a number of the club's younger players may get an opportunity to feature for the first-team in tonight's Papa John's Trophy tie.
Meanwhile, Dom Jefferies and Shaun Williams (foot) could both feature in the Gills' matchday squad having been absent in recent weeks.
Gillingham currently sit 21st in Sky Bet League Two having claimed just four points from their opening six matches in the fourth tier.
Neil Harris' side travel to the capital on the back of a 1-0 reverse at Carlisle last weekend, stretching their goalless run in the league to four games.
Charlton and Gillingham have gone toe-to-toe on 38 previous occasions with the Addicks winning 17, Gills seven and the remaining 14 encounters resulting in draws.
The last meeting between the two sides came at The Valley in March as Alex Gilbey's first-half strike earned the hosts a 1-0 triumph.
