Prolific prospect Patrick Casey has penned his first professional contract with the club.
The 17-year-old striker, who first signed for Charlton as an U9, has enjoyed a sensational season in front of goal, scoring 42 goals for the club’s U18 and U21 sides.
That form saw Casey named in the Republic of Ireland U19 squad for a summer training camp earlier in June.
After signing his three-year deal, Casey said: “I’m delighted to have got to this point and I’m just looking forward to what the future holds for me. I want to keep progressing as I did last season, hopefully score 42 goals again and make my first team debut.”
Academy Director Steve Avory added: “We’re delighted that Patrick has committed his future to the club for these next three years. He was here as a pre-academy player and it’s always very rewarding when players come through the whole system like Patrick has.
“It’s been a very progressive season for him which the fans will obviously have noticed because he’s scored so many goals for our U18s. I’m sure he’s now ready to go on and try and emulate that again this season, but with that progression towards U21 football. He has huge potential and we look forward to working with him for the next three years.”
