Jason Pearce hailed his U18s side following an emphatic 5-1 victory over Sheffield United in the play-off semi-finals on Friday evening.
Patrick Casey bagged a brace and Karoy Anderson, Daniel Kanu and Ryan Huke were also on the scoresheet at The Valley as the young Addicks progressed to the showpiece final in stunning style.
Speaking to CharltonTV post-match, Pearce said: “I didn’t even dream it as good as that! It was an outstanding performance from the boys.
"We could have won by more if I’m honest, but we had to get the job done and it was all about winning to get through to the final. I’m delighted for the boys.
“We came in at half-time on the back of an outstanding first half and we knew Sheffield United would have to change something being 5-1 down. I said to the lads that we needed a real professional performance out there for the second half and I thought they did that fantastically well. For their development, it’s really important that they understand that - how to win a game.
"I’m delighted with how it’s gone but obviously it's a semi-final and we haven’t won anything yet," he added. "We need to keep focused to go the final with a positive mindset.”
Pearce's side will now take on Barnsley, who beat Millwall 1-0 in the other play-off semi-final on Saturday, for the right to be crowned national champions. Full details for the final will be announced once confirmed.
