PGA Match Report: Charlton 3 Chelsea 2

PGA group

Charlton’s PGA side played host to Chelsea in a thrilling encounter at Sparrows Lane, where a strong first half from the Addicks was countered by a Chelsea comeback after the break.

Charlton started brightly, dictating play and creating early chances. In the sixth minute, Charlton found space in the middle and weaved past defenders before setting up Chime, whose shot was well saved by the Chelsea keeper. Shortly after, Frankie tried her luck with a shot of her own before Chelsea began to grow into the game.

The breakthrough came in the 24th minute when Frankie chipped the ball beautifully from the edge of the box, sending it over the keeper and into the net. Just 15 minutes later, Frankie repeated the feat, this time from even further out, doubling Charlton’s advantage. Chelsea responded quickly, but Mia produced a crucial save to maintain the lead. However, moments later, Honor went on a solo run and unleashed a stunning strike to make it 3-0 at half-time.

The second half saw a shift in momentum, with Chelsea applying relentless pressure. Charlton came close to extending the lead early on, only for the Chelsea keeper to make an excellent diving save. The visitors continued to push forward, and their persistence paid off in the 59th minute when they pulled one back. Chelsea kept up the intensity, eventually grabbing a second goal in the 75 minute.

Towards the end of the match, the Addicks keeper made a crucial save but was fouled in the air, causing her to spill the ball into the net. The referee, however, ruled in Charlton’s favour, disallowing the goal and leaving the scoreline at 3-2 to Charlton.
