Point on the road at play-off rivals Stockport

Charlton battle for the ball

Stockport County 0 Charlton 0

Charlton secured a point on the road at play-off rivals Stockport County in a physical game in blustery conditions at Edgeley Park.

The Addicks slightly edged the first half, while the hosts were marginally the better side in the second half as Nathan Jones’ side registered a 16th clean sheet in the league this season.

Stockport’s first half chance came in the opening minute, with Kayne Ramsay recovering well to tackle Tanto Olaofe just as the former Millwall man prepared to shoot at goal.

The ball then wouldn’t sit for Miles Leaburn, as the striker got in behind the Stockport defence. His left-footed shot going wide of goal.

Charlton’s best chance of the first half fell to Luke Berry, who, at close range, poked the ball over goal from Josh Edwards’ in-swinging cross form the right.

The Addicks’ goal was under increased threat early in the second half with Will Mannion making a magnificent save, down low to his right, to keep out Kyle Wootton in the first minute after the break.

A Stockport corner resulted in more pressure and Wootton saw his clever flick bounce back off the Charlton crossbar.

The visitor's best chance of the second half fell to Macaulay Gillesphey. The defender, who had scored in both of the Addicks’ previous games this week, headed just wide from Karoy Anderson’s cross from the left.

Nathan Jones’ side travel to Crawley Town on Tuesday before the visit of Wigan Athletic to The Valley next weekend.
