REPORT: Birmingham City 0 Charlton 0

Group huddle at St Andrews

A team performance to be proud of was put on show today by Charlton Athletic as they walked away from a stalemate with one point.

Birmingham City came out with intent in the first half and showed the Addicks they meant business, attacking for the majority of the half. Though the Reds couldn't find a rhythm in attack, they delivered a very strong defensive performance against a determined Birmingham City. The Addicks were unbreakable as the home side launched relentless attacks.

Hills must have given a game-changing team talk as Charlton came out with a winning desire and turned the game on its head. They looked confident in attack and created chances that seemed impossible in the first half. When Birmingham had attacking spells, the defence stayed strong, and Whitehouse gave fans a sense of security, looking comfortable with any crosses coming into the box.

Eight added minutes on the clock created a sense of urgency for both sides, and the Addicks had to dig deep to keep their clean sheet as well as find their attacking moments. Brazil had two chances in the final minutes when she found herself one-on-one with the keeper, but her first shot went just wide and her second was smothered by the Birmingham keeper.

The goalless scoreline doesn't do justice to the game that played out, as ultimately both sides delivered unbreakable performances. The Addicks will hold their heads high heading into the winter break.
