Charlton moved to the top of the Women's Championship with a 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers, with the Addicks' goals courtesy of Beth Roe, January signing Melisa Filis and skipper Kate Longhurst in an entertaining five-goal thriller at The Oakwood.
The Addicks had a promising start to proceedings creating numerous chances to take the lead. In the 3rd minute, Karen Hills' side were awarded a penalty after Addison was brought down in the box. Melissa Johnson stepped up for the spot kick but her effort was saved by Brookes between the sticks.
The hosts continued to apply pressure Johnson provided a brilliant pass in the 15th minute which found the feet of Humphrey, but her strike was well saved by the keeper.
The Addicks looked to push for an opening after their positive start, Johnson came close in the 27th minute once again, this time hitting the crossbar. But thanks to Beth Roe's quick reflexes she headed the ball into the back of the net giving Charlton a 1-0 lead.
The visitors almost equalised in the 44th minute with an impressive strike from distance, but the ball sailed over Sian Rogers bar.
Shortly after the interval, new signing Mel Filis added her name to the scoresheet when her strike sailed into the back of the net.
But, Rovers responded with a goal of their own in the 64th minute courtesy of Millie Chandarana.
The Addicks extended their lead five minutes from time after Kate Longhurst buried her close-range effort into the back of the net.
The visitors came back once more in stoppage time through Hannah Silcock. But Karen Hills' side held on to secure a vital three points and move top of the Championship standings.
