Charlton Athletic manager Russell Slade paid a visit to the Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) Post 16 Academy last Tuesday afternoon, September 13th.
He observed a training session and took a Question and Answer session with the young players. He discussed his training career, his motivation techniques and gave advice on how to get spotted and how to play at the highest possible level.
Speaking after the event, Russell Slade said: “It was a great pleasure speaking to the players on one of the Community Trust’s Post 16 Academies.”
“They seemed like hungry young footballers ready to learn and go far in the game.
“I’m very happy to support the scheme because I think it is really important that footballers get their formal education alongside an elite training programme.”
The Post 16 Football Academy is a two-year, full-time education and football development programme delivered by CACT.
Open to talented footballers aged between 16-18 years, the academy programme blends football training with academic higher education.
Sean Daly, CACT’s head of football & sports development said: “I know the players really appreciated Russell coming down to impart his advice and insight. They’ll be taking a new motivation into their studies and training.”
