Please read below a statement from Owner Thomas Sandgaard thanking supporters, players and staff for the part they played in Tuesday's Carabao Cup quarter-final against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
I would like to thank the Charlton fans for their incredible support on Tuesday. Nearly 9,000 supporters travelled to Manchester and sang throughout the game. You were a great credit to the club.
I know there were a lot of supporters in the UK and around the world that were unable to get to the game - you were there in spirit cheering the team on.
I’d also like to congratulate Dean Holden and his players for their brave efforts on the pitch against some of the best players in the world. They worked hard, stayed in the game and gave the travelling support something to be proud of.
Finally, I’d like to thank the club’s staff for the selling and distribution of the 9,000 tickets. Many individual staff contributed to a real team effort and, like our supporters and players, were a real credit to the club.
On a big day for Charlton, it was great to see everyone working together, and hopefully we can use that togetherness to build on to a strong second half of the season.
