Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the permanent signing of goalkeeper Sian Rogers.
Rogers has penned a one-year deal with the club, extending her stay with the Addicks until the summer of 2024.
The stopper first arrived at Charlton last season on a one-year loan deal from Women's Super League outfit Aston Villa. The 25-year-old becomes Karen Hills’ second permanent signing of the summer following the expiration of her contract with the Villans.
Rogers had an impressive season between the sticks last term, featuring in all 22 league games and recording seven clean sheets.
The former England youth international was involved in the national setup from the age of 13 and featured across several age groups. While at Villa she collected the Golden Glove award as the Villans secured promotion to the top-flight in 2019/20.
After signing her deal, Rogers said: "Obviously when it came about that Karen wanted me to stay it was something that I really did consider after my loan spell. I really did enjoy it here and it played a massive part in me coming back to the club, and I am happy to be back!"
Karen Hills is excited to continue working with the promising shotstopper. She added:
"I’m happy to have Sian with us for next season on a permanent deal. Sian brings fantastic leadership qualities as well as an outstanding goalkeeper. Her first season with us was an opportunity for her to gain good playing minutes under her belt and enjoy the game again.
So, her decision to stay with us is pleasing as we were able to make that happen for her. I’m looking forward to seeing Sian excel this season as she now feels at home with us at Charlton."
