The club and Charlton Athletic Supporters' Trust (CAST) will once again join forces to host a collection for Greenwich Foodback at The Valley ahead of Saturday's clash against Cambridge United.
The collection will take place from 1.45pm in the West Stand car park, where CAST staff will be on hand to receive donations.
This weekend will mark the second collection this term following a successful intake before the Addicks' season-opener against Leyton Orient in August.
CAST Secretary Richard Wiseman said: “More people than ever are currently approaching food banks for the first time because they simply can't afford to keep themselves and their families fed and warm. Charlton fans have shown for the last four years that they can make a real difference to local people who are struggling to get by.”
Last December, Charlton fans contributed 65kg of food (approximately 90 meals) and £1,050, all of which went towards people in the community who were struggling to make ends meet.
All non-perishable items and toiletries will be gratefully received, but Greenwich Foodbank have identified the following items in particular:
-
Rice pudding
-
Tinned potatoes
-
Instant mashed potato
-
Macaroni cheese
-
Savoury snacks
-
Long life fruit juice
-
Vegetarian ravioli
-
Vegetable curry
