Fans can donate to Young Lives vs Cancer collectors outside The Valley on Saturday afternoon.
Young Lives vs Cancer is the UK’s leading charity for providing support to young cancer patients and their families. It could be a financial grant for a young person who can't afford to get to hospital, a shoulder to cry on or offering a free place to stay at one of their Homes from Home.
Ben Jay was your typical south-east London 16-year-old. He lived for football and his beloved Charlton, spending lots of time with family and friends at The Valley.
After being rushed to hospital in July 2021, undergoing various tests and scans, Ben and his family were given the devastating news that he had hepatocellular carcinoma - a very rare type of liver cancer.
On February 4th, 2022, just seven months after receiving his diagnosis, Ben passed away at the age of 17.
Young Lives vs Cancer supported Ben and his family in a variety of ways throughout his treatment. His family are now fundraising for the charity through Ben’s fund, which has been set up to help other children and young people facing cancer. To donate £5 or £10, text BENFIVE or BENTEN to 70580.
