Charlton's U17s kicked off their Premier League Cup campaign with an impressive 4-0 win against Fulham at Sparrows Lane on Tuesday afternoon.
Ellis McMillan and Raynon Richman both netted braces as the young Addicks sealed a convincing victory over their West London counterparts in their opening Premier League Cup fixture.
The U17s opened their account inside 10 minutes as they capitalised on a loose touch from the visitors' full-back. Richman fought off the defender as he was slipped in down the flank, before eventually cutting inside and teeing up McMillan who poked in with ease.
With seven minutes remaining of the first period, Richman doubled Charlton’s lead. The young Addicks countered with pace in a two-on-two scenario, leaving Richman in on goal and the 15-year-old showed superb composure to take it round the Fulham stopper and slot in on the angle.
Richman was at the double shortly after the interval as he extended Charlton’s lead to three. The forward pounced on a heavy touch inside the penalty box, shrugged off his defender and rifled in on the turn to bag his brace.
The young Addicks rounded off the scoring in the 84th minute as Jack Belton and McMillan combined from a corner routine. Belton played it short for the winger who drove into the box and sent a low effort in at the near post.
Up next for the U17s in the Premier League Cup is a trip to Chelsea on Wednesday, October 2nd (KO 1pm).
