U18 REPORT | Charlton 2 Brentford 2

'

Charlton's U18s picked up a 2-2 draw against Brentford at Sparrows Lane on Saturday afternoon.

Ellis McMillan levelled the scoring ahead of the interval, before Tate Elliott’s 88th-minute strike rescued a point for the young Addicks.

The visitors took the lead early on through Adam Poliakov, who found the back of the net inside two minutes. A throw-in was flicked forward, with a few fortunate touches slipping the Bees’ number nine through on goal, slotting past Charlton goalkeeper Ruben Brammer.

Fortunately for Jason Pearce’s side, they responded well to the setback and drew level through McMillan. A perfectly-timed through ball was fed into the path of the versatile forward, who was able to escape his defender and slot in through the goalkeeper’s legs.

Brentford regained their advantage on the cusp of the interval. A heavy touch in the box fell into the path of Enrique Roca, who found the back of the net with a well-taken strike.

Some quick thinking from the young Addicks saw us level the scoring once again with full-time looming. A corner was taken quickly as Pearce’s side blitzed into the box, allowing Elliott to escape his marker and head home at the back post to rescue a point in the Professional Development League.

The U18s return to action this weekend with a trip to the south west to face Bristol City on Saturday (KO 12pm GMT).
