Charlton’s U18s earned a 5-3 triumph over Bournemouth on Tuesday afternoon.
Jacob Safa and Brook Myers both bagged braces, with Micah Mbick also on the scoresheet for Jason Pearce’s side at Sparrows Lane.
Safa opened the scoring after just eight minutes, finding the bottom right-corner with a stunning strike from 25 yards.
Myers made it two just six minutes later when his fancy footwork created space for him to fire beyond Mack Allan having being found by Mbick.
Safa added his second and the young Addicks’ third midway through the first-half, this time smashing into the bottom-left corner after a Cherries defender diverted the ball into his path.
Mbick got in on the scoring act moments after the restart, poking home from close range following excellent play from Bradley Tagoe to tee up the prolific forward.
Jonny Day and Charlie Stevens then pulled two goals back for the visitors before Myers added Charlton’s fifth 11 minutes from time, sending a left-footed shot into the far corner after being picked out by substitute Jadon Yamoah.
Kash Kasukumya completed the scoring in SE9 with six minutes remaining, converting Day’s cross to make it 5-3.
The U18s are next in action on Saturday when Sheffield United visit Sparrows Lane (KO 11am).
