A superb second-half turnaround from Charlton's U18s saw the young Addicks claim a 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town at Sparrows Lane on Saturday.
Emmanuel Sol-Loza and Ellis McMillan were both at the double for Jason Pearce’s side, with Reuben Reid also etching his name on to the scoresheet.
The visitors took the lead inside 10 minutes through Jamie Mauge. After an initial strike rattled the post, the ball fell into the path of Mauge, who converted from close range.
Just seven minutes later and the Tractor Boys had their second as Afi Adebayo cut in on to his left foot and curled into the top corner.
Charlton pulled one back just moments after the interval as Sol-Loza netted his first. A mishap at the back saw the ball knocked into the forward’s path and he tapped in with ease.
Sol-Loza came knocking once again as he secured his brace just eight minutes later. Superb work from Bradley Tagoe saw the winger beat his man down the flank and cut the ball back across the box for Sol-Loza to fire home on his right.
The young Addicks’ second was closely followed by their third, with McMillan completing the turnaround ahead of the hour mark. An almost identical move saw Jacob Safa square for McMillan who converted.
Reid was next to net for Charlton as he capitalised on a loose pass at the back, curling his strike past the goalkeeper.
McMillan rounded off the scoring with 12 minutes left on the clock. A neat move from Pearce's side saw Safa’s 20-yard strike clip the bar and fall into McMillan's path as he headed home from six yards.
The U18s return to Sparrows Lane later this month when they host Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, January 25th (KO 11am GMT).
