Charlton's U21s came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory over Welling United in the second round of the London Senior Cup on Wednesday.
Prolific striker Patrick Casey was the hero on the night, bagging two goals in as many minutes late on to seal the young Addicks' place in the quarter-finals.
Charlton almost opened the scoring inside the opening 15 minutes, but were twice foiled by Javarn Pitterson. First, the Wings stopper kept out Toby Bower's powerful strike and then he tipped over Kai Enslin's headed effort from the resulting corner.
However, it was the hosts who drew first blood through Josh Johnson, capitalising on some loose defending and calmly slotting past Prince Adegoke on 32 minutes.
Chris Lock's side forced Pitterson into further action in the second period, the most notable of which saw the goalkeeper deny Henry Rylah one-on-one.
Moments later, Pitterson turned Bower's free-kick over his crossbar as Charlton continued to apply the pressure.
A leveller soon arrived through Casey, who received the ball on the edge of the 18-yard box and sent an unstoppable strike beyond Pitterson.
Casey was at it again just two minutes later, this time volleying home from close range following fantastic work from Tolu Ladapo down the left flank.
The young Addicks will now host Barking in the London Senior Cup quarter-finals, with full fixture and ticketing details to be confirmed in due course.
