Charlton’s U21s are back in action on Tuesday afternoon, taking on Colchester United at the Wallace Binder Stadium (1pm KO GMT).
The young Addicks earned a 2-1 triumph in a behind-closed-doors friendly at AFC Bournemouth last time out thanks to goals from Daniel Kanu and Patrick Casey.
Looking ahead to Tuesday’s test, U21 boss Danny Senda said: “Colchester are always a difficult side when we come up against them. They’ve got a good output on the last line and they’ll be a difficult challenge for us, but it’s one that we want to embrace.
“We want to ensure that we can enhance the individual performances in the U21s and it’s another test, both individually and collectively as a team, for us to go up against a team that we know are going to pose challenges for us in every area of the pitch.”
Colchester currently sit ninth in the Professional Development League 2 - South table, two places and five points below Charlton, albeit with three games in hand.
The U's claimed a convincing 3-0 victory against Cardiff City in their last league outing.
