Charlton's U21s were held to a 0-0 draw against Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Monday afternoon.
The first half saw two superb defensive performances from both teams as neither side were able to make the all-important breakthrough.
Henry Rylah went closest for the young Addicks, riding a trip from Joseph James in the build-up to race through on goal, but his effort was off target.
At the other end, Bristol City's Luke Skinner enjoyed received two chances in quick succession. The first came as he wrapped his strike wide of the post after cutting in from the left wing, with the latter coming as he glided past two Charlton defenders before seeing his shot blocked at close quarters.
With full-time approaching, the hosts had the chance to edge in front, but fortunately for the young Addicks a goalmouth scramble was deflected wide.
Up next for the U21s is a trip to the LNER Community Stadium on Friday evening as they face Leeds United in the Premier League Cup (KO 7pm GMT).
