Charlton’s U21s suffered a 4-2 defeat against Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Tuesday afternoon.
Marley Rose gave the hosts the lead on 15 minutes with a lobbed finish after latching onto Tommy Backwell’s ball forward.
Patrick Casey drew the young Addicks level on the half-hour mark when he calmly converted his 40th goal of the season.
Dylan Kadji restored the Robins’ advantage four minutes into the second period, steering home Elijah Morrison’s pull-back.
Ryan Huke made it 2-2 on 59 minutes, beating a succession of City defenders and firing home.
The hosts retook the lead on 67 minutes in fortuitous fashion as Seydil Torue inadvertently sent Harry Leeson’s cross past Trialist goalkeeper Harry Cant.
Moments later, Olly Thomas added Bristol City’s fourth.
