Charlton’s U21s suffered a 2-1 defeat against AFC Bournemouth at The Valley on Tuesday afternoon.
The visitors were the first to go close on 11 minutes, when Daniel Adu-Adjei headed Zain Silcott-Duberry’s centre against Lennon MacLorg’s crossbar.
At the other end, Gassan Ahadme headed on to the roof of the net after pouncing on a loose ball inside the penalty area.
Daniel Kanu was forced off after 29 minutes following a firm challenge from Max Kinsey.
Patrick Casey, Kanu’s replacement, made an instant impact, firing the young Addicks ahead within a minute of his introduction. The Irishman drilled home after meeting Ollie Hobden’s pass.
Adu-Adjei drew the visitors level seven minutes into the second period, converting substitute Zane Okoro’s deflected cross from close range.
With just three minutes remaining, Kian Tydeman bagged the winner for the Cherries, guiding home Ashley Clarke’s cross.
Next up for the U21s is a trip to south Wales to take on Swansea City on Monday afternoon (KO 2pm GMT).
