Charlton's U21s returned to winning ways on Friday afternoon as late drama saw the young Addicks prevail at Sparrows Lane.
Ollie Hobden and Kaheim Dixon netted for Charlton, while Zavier Massiah-Edwards bagged for the visitors.
It was the Hornets who struck first in SE9 as Massiah-Edwards was threaded in behind. The forward made no mistake, slotting past Trialist A in goal for the young Addicks.
Chris Lock’s side responded well to the setback, drawing level ahead of the interval. Trialist B’s cross-goal strike was met by Hobden at the back post who fired in with a well-taken effort.
Charlton's hopes of contesting Brentford at the top of the table were reignited in the 87th minute as a misplaced header on the edge of the box saw the ball loop over the Watford keeper, straight into the path of Dixon.
The Jamaican international showed incredible composure to slot in his strike from an awkward angle and earn his side all three points.
The U21s are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League Cup round of 16 at Princes Park (KO 7pm GMT).
