Charlton’s U21s were denied victory at the very death in a 3-3 draw with Millwall on Monday afternoon.
Diallang Jaiyesimi opened the scoring at Princes Park within four minutes, bundling home from close range after the Lions stopper Joe Wright spilled Harvey Kedwell’s inswinging corner.
Daniel Kanu doubled the young Addicks’ advantage on 33 minutes following patient build-up play from Danny Senda’s side. A neat passing move culminated with Sahid Kamara feeding Kanu, who rifled a precise effort into the bottom corner.
The Lions were awarded a penalty on the stroke of half-time when Sam Oguntayo brought down the advancing Seb Drozd, who dusted himself off before firing past Ahmed Kone.
Millwall levelled proceedings seven minutes after the restart. Finley Cotton’s deep free-kick found Frankie Hvid, who headed home from a matter of yards.
Kanu restored Charlton’s advantage 14 minutes from time, racing onto Jason Adigun’s ball forward and coolly converting past Wright.
The Lions came from behind once more though, as Chinwike Okoli nodded Abdul Abdulmalik's cross past Kone in the fourth minute of injury-time to earn the visitors a share of the spoils.
Senda’s side are next in action on Tuesday, February 14th, when they take on Colchester United at the Wallace Binder Stadium (1pm KO GMT).
