Chris Lock’s young Addicks cruised to victory at Poolfoot Farm on Tuesday afternoon, securing a 5-0 triumph over Fleetwood Town’s U21s in Professional Development League Two.
Ryan Huke netted a brace and Ibrahim Fullah, Tolu Ladapo and Patrick Casey alap etched their names onto the scoresheet as Charlton claimed all three points up in Lancashire.
The young Addicks went ahead within 24 minutes through Fullah. A delightful passage of play from Lock’s side saw the ball fall to Fullah who fired Charlton ahead.
On the cusp of half-time, Charlton came close to extending their lead through Huke as he struck the post.
Just moments after the interval, the Addicks’ lead was doubled. Superb work from Ladapo saw the winger take it round a number of Fleetwood players, before eventually converting into the back of the net.
Casey added a third for Charlton just four minutes later. Fullah swung a deep cross from the right-flank towards the back post for the prolific Irishman to head home.
Shortly after, Prince Adegoke was called into action as the hosts were awarded a penalty. Fortunately for the young Addicks, the stopper got down low brilliantly to deny the hosts from 12 yards.
With 18 minutes remaining of the 90, Charlton added a fourth through Huke. Yet again, outstanding work from Ladapo as he took it round several players before squaring for Huke to convert from close range.
Huke claimed his brace 10 minutes later. Ladapo carried the ball down the right-hand side and crossed for Huke to rifle home and round off a five-star showing in the north west.
