U21 REPORT | Hull City 2 Charlton 0

'

Charlton’s U21s fell to a 2-0 defeat at Hull City in their opening game of the 2023/24 season on Tuesday afternoon.

Deji Elerewe got valuable minutes under his belt, captaining the young Addicks at the MKM Stadium.

The hosts took the lead midway through the opening period when Henry Sandat poked past Henry Molyneux at the far post.

Chances came at both ends thereafter and Hull stopper Owen Foster produced two fine saves to deny Jason Adigun before the break.

After the restart, Molyneux was on hand to bravely deny Raj Palit before Patrick Casey fired wide at the other end.

Foster soon produced another double stop to preserve the Tigers’ lead, this time denying Tolu Ladapo and substitute Keenan Gough.

Alfie Taylor doubled the hosts’ advantage on 74 minutes, reacting quickest to stab the ball beyond Molyneux.

Chris Lock’s side return to action on Monday, August 21st, when Wigan Athletic visit The Valley (KO 2pm BST).
