Tolu Ladapo was the hat-trick hero as Charlton’s U21s claimed an emphatic 6-1 triumph at Millwall on Thursday afternoon.
Micah Mbick bagged a brace and substitute Kai Enslin was also on the scoresheet at the Lions’ training ground.
Abdul Abdulmalik gave the hosts an early lead, but the young Addicks were soon level through Ladapo, who tapped home following excellent work from Mbick.
Ladapo added his and Charlton’s second just four minutes after the restart, converting Henry Rylah’s cross after the winger had carried the ball the length of the pitch.
Mbick made it three moments later, stabbing home a rebound having seen his initial effort repelled by Millwall stopper Ethan Wady.
Ladapo completed his hat-trick just before the hour-mark in stunning fashion. Jason Adigun did superbly to tee up the wideman, who fired into the opposing top corner with aplomb.
Four became five on 74 minutes when Enslin tapped it through the full-back’s legs and coolly drilled into the bottom corner.
There was still time for Mbick to add further gloss to the scoreline by making it six. Adigun was the provider once again, this time driving into the box and squaring for the striker who finished.
Chris Lock’s U21s are next in action on Monday, January 15th, hosting Colchester United at Princes Park (KO 1pm GMT).
