A youthful Charlton U21 side suffered a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Peterborough United on Tuesday afternoon.
The starting XI included nine U18s owing to the U21s’ participation in the London Senior Cup final on Tuesday evening.
Sam Dreyer gave the hosts a 20th-minute lead at the Weston Homes Stadium, heading home Kai Corbett’s corner at the near post.
Dreyer doubled his and Posh’s tally seven minutes after the restart, poking substitute Kellan Hickinson’s low cross past Henry Molyneux from close range.
Corbett turned provider again on 63 minutes, this time delivering another inswinging corner for Trialist B to bundle in.
Trialist B then added the hosts’ fourth, lashing home on the half-volley from a clever Corbett pass.
With seven minutes remaining, Trialist C converted number five for Peterborough, bringing down Hisham Chiha’s pass in behind and sliding the ball underneath Molyneux.
Posh skipper Corbett was sent off by the referee moments later following an off-the-ball incident with substitute Mikey Berry, as the hosts condemned the young Addicks to a first league defeat in four.
