On Wednesday, November 6th, the club staged a special ‘Valley of Dreams’ event at the Sparrows Lane training ground in New Eltham.
The event was attended by over 50 representatives from ‘Valley of Dreams’ members and valued business partners, as well as attendees from companies and organisations keen to learn more about the groundbreaking initiative we launched earlier this year at the House of Commons.
Hosted by Steve Sutherland, guests were formally welcomed by Paul Elliott CBE MBE, the club's Vice Chairman and Equality Diversity and Inclusion Lead. They then listened to in-depth interviews highlighting the incredible work of the club and CACT in the three main pillars of the ‘Valley of Dreams’ initiative. The interviews featured Jemma White, Head of Women’s Football for Charlton Athletic; Steve Avory, former Charlton Athletic Academy Director and Jason Morgan MBE, Chief Executive of CACT. The event concluded with a closing address by CEO, Charlie Methven.
The ‘Valley of Dreams’ concept showcases the importance of Charlton Athletic’s work in providing opportunities for young people by uniting the community trust, academy, and women’s football to deliver societal transformation in South-East London and Kent.
