George Jones reports
Charlton’s U23s will sign off from 2016 this afternoon when they host Colchester United at the DGS Marine Stadium in Professional Development League 2 South (1pm).
The Addicks, who have only lost one of their last 14 games in all competitions, will be hoping to conclude a successful calendar year by earning their tenth league win of the campaign.
Since August, Jason Euell’s team have faced 15 PDL2 matches, winning nine, draw five and losing just the one. That one reverse came against this afternoon’s opponents Colchester United, however, thus giving Charlton an extra incentive to overcome the U’s.
Colchester sit bottom of the division and last time out were beaten 1-0 at home by Crystal Palace. Charlton, meanwhile, recorded a 1-1 draw away at Millwall last Monday before reaching the semi-final of the Kent Senior Cup on Wednesday night by coming from behind to beat Margate.
Season ticket holders and Valley Gold members are permitted to attend this afternoon's fixture for free. Tickets are otherwise priced at £3 adults and £1 concessions.
