Karl Robinson praised his team’s desire in securing three points against Scunthorpe United on Tuesday evening, but said it is important not to get carried away on the back of the late home win.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s home game against Walsall he said: “The result on Tuesday against Scunthorpe has no effect on the result on Saturday, you can’t get another win on the back of a good performance. You don’t get two wins for one good performance. You’ve got to perform again. That’s what it takes to be successful.”
Walsall sit eighth in League One having beaten Chesterfield 1-0 at home on Tuesday. Robinson said: “Walsall, like us, had a game on Tuesday, so it will be difficult for both teams. They are sitting outside the playoffs as well, so it will be a challenge but we’re in a false position with the talent this club possesses, we’re a match for anybody as we showed on Tuesday.”
The manager also provided an injury update. He confirmed that Harry Lennon and Jake Forster-Caskey are running again today but that Chris Solly is still rehabilitating.
He also said that Jason Pearce is training and is set to play for the U23s on Sunday against AFC Wimbledon following his long lay-off: “He’s playing 60 minutes Sunday and another game midweek. If he comes through them clear, we’ll see where we are.
“Josh (Magennis) is going in the scanning machine today. We’ll have to wait and see. He’s got international duty in a few weeks’ time, we’ve got to make sure he’s ready for us and secondly for Northern Ireland who have to select their team for the qualifiers.”
