U23S PREVIEW | Charlton v Hull City

George Jones reports

Charlton’s U23s could move a step closer to the Professional Development League 2 South title when they host Hull City at Sparrows Lane on Monday afternoon (2pm).

The Addicks top their division - having won 13 league matches so far this season – which means that they are closing in on the title for the second year in succession.

Today’s opponents, Hull City, are likely to provide a stern test, however. The Tigers sit second in PDL2 North and could reduce the gap on their league-leaders Sheffield Wednesday to just four points, should they win themselves.

Jason Euell’s Charlton come into the match on the back of their Kent Senior Cup exit to Welling United last Tuesday. The young Addicks more than matched their senior counterparts for the entirety of the 90 minutes at Park View Road but the tie ended level, with the Wings prevailing on penalties.

The Tigers, meanwhile, saw their last match abandoned in the 89th minutes against Millwall following a mass brawl between both sets of players.

A victory would also guarantee Euell’s side of a place in the end-of-season play-offs.

Fans are permitted access to watch the fixture. Season-ticket holders must show their booklets and Red Card holders and Valley Gold members must show their cards to gain admission, but supporters should note that at Sparrows Lane entry will be limited until close to kick-off time.
