George Jones reports from The Valley
Chelsea loanee Jay Dasilva is loving his first taste of senior football and is determined to keep progressing in Charlton’s final two matches of the season.
The 18-year-old joined the Addicks in the January transfer window and has had to remain patient for his chance.
He has been an outstanding performer in the last few weeks and after playing 90 minutes in our 3-0 victory over Gillingham on Easter Monday, he is targeting two more victories.
The rampaging full-back said: “When I see a lot of grass in front of me, I am eager to get on the ball and drive forward.
“I want to cause problems down my side and there was space on both sides of the pitch today, so me and Byrney could get forward well.
“All round, Gillingham couldn’t stop us attacking and defensively we were solid, so it was a great win, 3-0, and everyone is happy.”
He added: “I want to keep my levels up, want to keep playing well and hopefully we can get two more wins in the last two games.”
Dasilva had to bide his time after switching to SE7 and he is pleased to have got his opportunity.
He said: “It took a while for me to get into the team but I think I have taken my chance well. I have been ready and I am happy with the way I’ve been playing.”
