Lee Bowyer is confident going in to Sunday’s Sky Bet League One play-off second leg against Shrewsbury Town.
The Addicks lost the first leg 1-0 at The Valley on Thursday to a Jon Nolan wondergoal but Bowyer believes his team can recover the deficit.
He said: “There is a lot of football still to be played. We will go there on Sunday and turn things around.
“It’s going to be difficult for sure because they are a good team. I’ve never said they are not a good team I just believe that my team is better.
“I respect what the manager has done and the team have done. They finished third, they were 15/16 points in front of us at the end of the season. That’s not from fluke. They’re a good team. They’ve got a certain way of playing.”
The Manager added he’ll watch the game again before picking the starting XI for this crunch game. He said: “I’ll watch this game again and then I’ll make my decisions after that. I can’t really criticise anyone, they’ve given me everything but I will have to freshen it up, that’s for sure because they’ve just given me they’re all there, so I’ll definitely make changes.”
Tariqe Fosu was a 62nd minute substitute and Bowyer warned he might not make the second leg. He said: “It’s a quick turnaround. The medical team have done outstanding to get him back this quick. We thought he’d be out for both legs so I don’t know how long, if any minutes I can play him Sunday. Hopefully I can steal another half hour or something. It’s just a bonus to see him out there playing because he’s a great lad and a great player. He just plays with a smile on his face and he just make things happen.”
Full match commentary of Sunday’s game will be available on Valley Pass. A matchday pass, which gives you 48 hours access, costs just £4.
