Bowyer on Cullen and Ward’s availability for Saturday’s game against Bradford City

Charlton Manager Lee Bowyer hinted that recent signings Josh Cullen and Jamie Ward could be involved in Saturday’s game at Bradford City.

The pair joined just before the loan window closed at the end of August. Cullen started the Addicks' 2-1 win at Southend United, setting up the winning goal, while Ward watched from the stands before they went away on international duty.

Cullen played twice for the Republic of Ireland U21s while Ward came on as substitute for Northern Ireland at the weekend.

Speaking at this morning’s press conference Bowyer said: “They are both fine. Josh played two 90 minutes while he was away. I would rather that didn’t happen on a Tuesday but obviously we can’t control that.

“I’ve just spoken to Jamie and he is raring to go. He came and watched us against Southend and he’s excited, it’s a new challenge for him and he’s looking forward to getting out there and showing us what he can do.”

When asked if the duo would play a role on Saturday he said: “Maybe, I’ll have to look at Josh, he played 90 minutes on Tuesday and had to travel back from Ireland, so I’ll see how he is this morning. It might be a case of bringing him on later on in the game but I’ll weigh it up. With Jamie I think he is raring to go. For him, drifting off the wing he is very effective and could do well on Saturday I think.”

Bowyer also added that Nicky Ajose, Darren Pratley and Krystian Bielik will miss Saturday’s game with injury. Tariqe Fosu remains suspended and a full injury update can be found here
