The Addicks’ unbeaten run came to an end after being on the wrong end of an eight-goal thriller on Tuesday night.
The 5-3 loss away to Scunthorpe United leaves us eighth in the table, one point outside of the play-off places. However, a win against Coventry City at The Valley on Saturday could see Charlton rise as high as fourth in the table.
Coventry lie fourteenth in the table, having been beaten 1-0 by league leaders Portsmouth at the Ricoh Arena on Tuesday. Ronan Curtis scored the only goal of the game for the visitors on the stroke of half-time.
Elsewhere, Peterborough remain second after a 2-2 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. A late goal gave Peterborough a share of the spoils against 10-man Sunderland, who had Bryan Oviedo dismissed in the second half.
Doncaster Rovers remain third despite a 1-0 defeat away to Accrington Stanley, who made it three wins in a row at the Crown Ground. Southend United also made it three wins out of three as they came from behind win 2-1 at Burton.
Goals from Paddy Madden and Adebayo Akinfenwa meant that Fleetwood Town and Wycombe Wanderers shared a point at Highbury Stadium. Bradford’s 1-0 win at AFC Wimbledon saw their winless streak of six games come to an end.
Luton Town beat struggling Oxford United, thanks to a last minute winner from Dan Potts, leaving Oxford four points from safety under Karl Robinson.
Two goal-less games saw 10-man Rochdale hold Bristol Rovers at home, whilst Walsall and Shrewsbury Town failed to find the net at the Bescot Stadium.
