Lee Bowyer and Steve Gallen were both in a good mood after making Jonny Williams the Addicks first signing of the January transfer window.
However, the pair know that their work is far from over.
Speaking after the signing Bowyer said: “We’re going to bring in another one or two early on. I don’t think we’ll quite get them through the door in time for Saturday but hopefully early next week we’ll be bringing in a couple more, that’s the plan. It’s important, we’re low on numbers at the moment but to bring in someone as good as Jonny, with his experience is great for us.
“He’ll be in the squad, he’ll be on the bench on Saturday (against Sunderland). He’ll train on Friday. At the moment it’s take one step at the time. The most important thing is we’ve got the first one through the door.”

Steve Gallen added: “There is more work to be done. Lee and Jacko need our support behind the scenes. What we’re trying to do is get the best players in that we can with the limited budget – everyone is aware of that, I think everyone has been really patient, the fans, the players, the staff, everyone has been really patient. We’re trying to get the right ones. I think Jonny Williams, everyone will agree is a very good football player. We’ve got to protect him and look after him but he will really, really add to the team.”
Full interviews with Bowyer and Gallen will be available to watch on Valley Pass on Friday afternoon. Valley Pass costs just £6.50 a month and you can sign-up here.
