Ben Purrington will be in familiar surroundings when Charlton make the relatively short trip to AFC Wimbledon in Sky Bet League One at the weekend.
The full-back – on loan at the Addicks from Rotherham United – spent the first half of the season with the Dons.
And, although Purrington enjoyed his time in south-west London, he’ll have his eyes firmly focused on three points for Charlton when he runs out at the Cherry Red Records Stadium on Saturday.
“They’re a good group of lads at Wimbledon and I enjoyed it there, but I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to come and play here,” he said.
“It will be a tough game on Saturday, long ball at times, and the pitch is small. The surface is alright but it’s very tight, so we will have to adapt to that.”
Wimbledon are struggling at the bottom of the table but earned a dramatic 4-3 victory over Rochdale on Tuesday night.
Purrington said: “We’ll be taking nothing for granted when we go there but hopefully we can get the three points.
“They’re not a bad side but, on the odd occasion, they go one goal behind and they can struggle. We know it will be a tough game but we’ll be ready.”
Now an Addick, Purrington has helped his new team to keep four clean sheets in their last six matches and he is loving life in SE7.
He said: “It’s a great club. Every week the fans are loud. It’s a good pitch, good stadium and there’s a good feel around the place, being near the top of the league. All the staff are friendly and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.”
