Lee Bowyer spoke to the press this morning ahead of Saturday’s game against Portsmouth.
The full press conference will be on Valley Pass this afternoon and below are talking points.
On a potential new contract for himself…
“I know that someone that works for the owner approached me on Monday and said that they would like to offer me a new contract. I said ‘great’ and he said they would come back to me. That’s where we are with that.”
On Saturday’s game against Portsmouth…
“I think now we are getting to that stage where every game is massive. Everyone is playing for something, us and Portsmouth, we are playing for the same thing and that is promotion. So similar to last week with Doncaster, who are in a similar situation as we are, it’s a massive game and it’s going to be a great atmosphere. It is going to be on TV so yes it’s going to be a good day.”
On the atmosphere at The Valley on Saturday…
“That’s why I think you play the game whether you like it or not they’re (the players) entertainers. It’s like a theatre to them isn’t it? So yes the place is going to be rocking, I’m looking forward to it and the players are, you can tell there has been a good atmosphere all week. They are really looking forward to it, they all want to be involved. Some will miss out, but that the reality of football but yes I am really looking forward to it as well.”
On the challenge of Portsmouth…
“We have two teams who will be playing their hardest to get those three points, so it is going to be difficult, they are a good side but so are we. They have strengths, we have strengths, they have weaknesses, we have weaknesses, for me it is going to be a very good game.”
