Lee Bowyer will be in attendance for tonight’s FA Women’s championship clash between Charlton Women’s and Millwall Lionesses at The Valley.
Speaking after last night’s 2-1 win over Burton Albion, Bowyer spoke about how he was looking forward to seeing the women’s team play in SE7.
“I’m going to cheer on the ladies, it’s a big occasion,” he said. “I’m looking forward to seeing them play because I don’t get much opportunity to see them play, so I’ll be cheering them on.”
Bowyer has a history with our local rivals and spoke about his previous encounters against Millwall.
He said: “I’ve got a bit of a history with them (Millwall), played here and scored against them and when we were away there I got sent off! So, highs and lows.”
When asked about the women’s team playing on the pitch, Bowyer gave a heads up about the conditions.
He said: “It’ll be good for them. Our lads got tired really quickly on the pitch last night. But they’ll enjoy it and hopefully a lot of people come out and show their support and it’ll be a good occasion.”
