The Charlton family are coming together to support each other thanks to Charlton Athletic Community Trust’s Extra Time group.
The social group, which offers weekly activities for retired and semi-retired people over 55, is set to re-launch at The Valley on Wednesday, with club legend Keith Peacock in attendance.
One of the group’s members Linda Gray, who has just recently been appointed Extra Time Hub Activator, said: "Come along and you will enjoy it. You will meet new people and you can chat over a cup of tea or coffee. There will always be a lot to do such as singing, table tennis, short matt bowls and more, we have human bingo, I found out what that is.
"So if your around then come along and find out for yourself, and if you are alone then don’t worry we will make you welcome, we don’t allow anyone to sit on their own.”
Membership in the group has grown since the new year and if anyone is over 55 and interested in joining, then try it for two weeks for free. After that each week the session costs £3 weekly or £10 a month. If you want to find out more then you should contact matt.phillips@cact.org.uk.
The activity has been funded by The National Lottery, Sport England and EFL Trust who are also running the programme in conjunction with 11 other clubs across the country.
