Ben Amos was outstanding during his loan spell with Charlon in 2017/18 and today it was confirmed that he had returned to the club on a permanent deal.
The former United goalkeeper will battle it out with Dillon Phillips for a place in the starting lineup and that is a challenge he relishes.
Amos played every league game during his previous spell at the club while Phillips was excellent in the Addicks second half surge last season.
Amos said: “Dil is a pal of mine, I’ve been away with him this summer. Obviously he showed what he could do last year. It’s always healthy to have two keepers going for it and we’ll see what happens.”
The 29-year-old explained his previous time at the club and the opportunity to play Championship football were both motivating factors in his decision to sign for the Addicks.
“I was on holiday when Charlton won at Wembley but I had the game on the television and it was crazy wasn’t it!”
The stopper is now raring to go again and explained he is fit should he be required for this week’s friendlies against Ebbsfleet United (Tuesday, July 16th) and Dagenham and Redbridge (Wednesday, July 17th). Both games will be streamed live on Valley Pass. You can sign up for Valley Pass for just £6.50 a month or £60 for the season. To sign-up, click here.
