Charlton will play their final pre-season game at The Valley when they host Aston Villa in Chris Solly's testimonial match on Saturday afternoon (3pm).
The game caps off a pre-season which has seen the Addicks prepare for a campaign in the Championship following their promotion from League One last season and manager Lee Bowyer has urged supporters to produce a ‘party atmosphere’ for one-club man Solly on Saturday afternoon.
Despite the celebration of Solly's 10-year career, Bowyer will no doubt be looking for a promising showing to put the side in good stead before the season-opener away to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, August 3rd.
Bowyer’s men snatched a last-gasp win away to Colchester United on Tuesday night as Brendan Wiredu notched his fourth goal in as many games.
Bowyer may look to get some more minutes in Charlton’s newest acquisition, Deji Oshilaja who proved instrumental when he came off the bench against the U’s. Elsewhere, Lewis Page is expected to remain sidelined, but Chuks Aneke could be involved again after missing the midweek trip to Gillingham.
Aston Villa have enjoyed a 100 per cent record in their pre-season so far, beating the likes of Minnesota United, Shrewsbury Town and a notable 5-1 victory over Walsall in their last outing. After their contest against the Addicks, Villa will then make the trip to Germany to finish their pre-season against Red Bull Leipzig.
