Charlton Athletic have today confirmed the appointment of Steve Gallen to the club’s Board of Directors.
Gallen joined Charlton as Head of Recruitment in April 2017 and has presided over numerous successful transfer windows, including a very impressive summer 2018 window which spearheaded the Addicks Sky Bet League One promotion campaign.
This summer Charlton have signed 14 players and currently sit second in the Sky Bet Championship following an unbeaten start to the season.
Gallen joins owner Roland Duchatelet and director Richard Murray on the board.
Duchatelet said: “Steve Gallen has done an excellent job since joining the club. The recruitment last summer, working alongside his team and with Lee Bowyer, was essential to the club’s promotion and he has done some great work again this summer.
“He has a very good relationship with Lee Bowyer, he is popular with the club’s staff and has built up a good rapport with the Charlton fans. He will add his football expertise and experience to the Board of Directors. Selling the club remains our number one priority and it is important the football doesn’t suffer during that process, with Steve on the Board of Directors that can only help.”
Gallen, who works closely with Bowyer, heads up a team of club scouts, he said: “It’s an honour and a privilege to be appointed to the Board of Directors. I have really enjoyed my time at Charlton. Last season was incredible and winning at Wembley is something I’ll never forget. This season is a new challenge and like everyone I’ve been thrilled with how we’ve started.
“I am fortunate to work with some exceptional staff and I just want to continue doing all I can for the club, the staff and the fans, who have been great with me.”
