As the penultimate international break of the year arrives, six Charlton players have been called up for their national team this week, including Josh Cullen, Tom Lockyer, Jonny Williams and Ashley Maynard-Brewer, alongside the Addicks’ two young English loanees, Conor Gallagher and Jonathan Leko.
Gallagher’s hugely impressive start to the season has seen him rewarded with a promotion into the England U21 squad for their friendly in Slovenia on Friday and a UEFA European U21 Championship qualifier at StadiumMK on October 15th.
Leko, meanwhile, will be travelling to Tardini to take on Italy’s U20 side, before returning to England to face off against the Czech Republic’s U20s in a pair of friendly matches.
The two players have combined for a total of six goals and four assists in Charlton’s first 11 league games and have received massive praise for their recent performances.
Elsewhere, Welsh teammates Jonny Williams and Tom Lockyer face a crucial pair of matches for, as they try to keep their Euro 2020 dreams alive. They will travel to Trnava to play Slovakia before going to Cardiff to play Croatia. Both matches will be available to watch on Sky Sports on October 10th and 13th respectively.
Josh Cullen faces a slightly less intense battle for Republic of Ireland’s Euro qualifications, playing Georgia in Tbilisi, before playing a friendly match against Switzerland in Geneva. Both matches will also be available to watch on Sky Sports on October 10th and 14th.
Finally, 20-year-old stopper Ashley Maynard-Brewer will travel with the Australia U23s squad to Qatar for a training camp.
