Addicks academy graduate Albie Morgan has joined Ebbsfleet United on a 28-day loan.
The 19-year old made his senior debut for Charlton in August 2018 and went on to play a key part in Lee Bowyer’s promotion-winning side, starting both of the play-off semi-final clashes with Doncaster Rovers.
In total, the midfielder has made 18 first-team appearances for the Addicks and now joins Garry Hill’s side for more valuable senior experience.
“Following promotion and the new additions that have arrived this summer, Albie has found himself down the pecking order so it’s a great opportunity for him to get some games under his belt,” explained First-Team Development Coach, Grant Basey.
“In an ideal world, he would be going out to a League club but, due to the transfer window, he can only go to teams at National League level and below. As soon as we heard Ebbsfleet were interested, it was a no-brainer for all parties.
“We know what a good player Albie is. He was a big part of the squad last season and was very unfortunate not to be in the squad at Wembley. This now gives Albie the opportunity to go and play competitive men’s football.
“Due to Ebbsfleet’s current position in the league, he knows that he’ll have to go and roll his sleeves up and that it will be tough, so it will be a very good experience for his development.”
Morgan could make his Fleet debut on Saturday when they welcome Maidenhead United to the Kuflink Stadium, but does not have have permission to play in their FA Cup fourth-round qualifier at home to Woking on October 29th.
Meanwhile, fellow academy graduate Alfie Doughty has extended his loan at Bromley until December 7th.
The 19-year-old has impressed so far at Hayes Lane, scoring once in eight outings for the high-flying Ravens in the National League.
