Speaking after Charlton's 1-0 defeat to Preston North End, Lee Bowyer gave his thoughts on the game, how injuries are affecting the side and looked ahead to the game against Millwall.
A video of a press conference will be available later on Valley Pass.
On defeat against Preston…
"We gave the ball away too much, we complicated the game a lot of the time. All those things, that’s not what we’re about. I’m disappointed to lose to a penalty. Our captain has made a bad decision, there’s a few reasons why we ended up losing today.
"We had some good chances – we didn’t take them. We have to be at it every single game because, when we aren’t, we don’t do so well. That’s the difference with us coming up [from League One]. You have to be at it every week in this division. Unfortunately, we weren’t there today."
On injuries having an impact…
"It’s difficult but we’ve got a squad. We’ll just keep going, we’ll keep fighting and competing and trying to do the right things in training. We’re getting better. Today, we’ve lost against a good, experienced, side that have gone top.
"It surprised me the way they played. It was direct. I thought we struggled with that in the first half. We didn’t compete well enough.
"He caused the same problems against Blackburn last week, he’s a handful, the fellow up top [Tom Barkhuizen]. But we didn’t cope with it at all first half. Second half we were a bit better.
"It’s difficult because you can’t rotate and play the players that you want to play all the time. People that are coming off the bench, you want them to have an impact and it’s not really happening at the moment."
On the upcoming game against Millwall and getting a reaction…
"You have to have a reaction going there! Again, we’ll be ready, and we’ll put this one behind us. we haven’t had many bad games, especially here. We’ll put that behind us and move on."
